Have you ever wondered what it takes to become rich? Or is it just about getting lucky? This is a question that has long intrigued the minds of many people. There are many reasons why you might want to become rich. For some people, it is about securing their future. For others it is about attaining more freedom. Whatever the reason is, the truth is that you cannot become rich without hard work. For as the saying goes;
'' The harder I work the more luck I seem to be getting''
From this, we can conclude that hard work and luck seem to be in direct proportion with each other and that one attracts the other, which is hard work attracts luck.
So the question you have or the main reason you are reading this blog is to find out how to get rich without getting lucky.
Here is a list of factors which I have learnt from Naval Ravikant and am applying to own life as well;
LUCK vs HARDWORK
As you sit there on your computer, you are probably, wondering which is more important, work or luck? It's a common question and one that I want to answer. I have to admit that I tend to think that luck is the most important. I think that if you are very fortunate, you can get by on very little work. I have never been very lucky, so I have had to work hard. However, some people have been very fortunate, and some have worked very hard. But which of these is more important?
For me I acknowledge both in the sense that you can't have one and lack the other, Let's take an example; let's say that you are lucky to be born in the richest country in the world and another person is born in the poorest country in the world. A person from the richest country in the world would be considered very lucky by the person in the poorest country. But the guy from the richest country would dismiss that point and to his/her defense say that even though he came from the richest country It does not classify him as personally rich because the wealth he acquired was through his hard work and determination.
From the two guys, we see two different worlds with totally different perspectives which can be argued nonstop without reaching an agreeable conclusion. But does this all matter whether it is hard work or luck which contributed to the wealth of the individual? or is it the willingness to succeed.
For me what matters is whether you are willing to be successful regardless of the situation you are in without limiting yourself to outside situations.
At the end of it all comes to if you can control what is within your capabilities and not what is outside it.
BEEN AT THE RIGHT PLACE
What I mean by been in the right place is putting yourself around materials or people who you can learn from or read their stories on how they acquired their wealth .
By doing this you will be able to learn from their mistakes and failures and help you navigate through them and gain a lot of valuable knowledge which would have taken you a lot of trial and error.
If you can't see them personally use social media platforms to reach them , through the power of the internet you are able to access people , and materials from an electronic gadget . So it is wise to utilize this power and make it work for you.
Another thing to also note is to, make sure people you hung around are the right kind of people who are able to see your vision and you share the same goals and ambitions because we are an average of the five people we hang around with . The reality is if the people you hung around with don't have dreams and goals, it is most likely you won't have them either.
ACQUIRING WEALTH
In order to be able to acquire wealth , this three factors are essential in wealth building ;
1.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
Specific knowledge is knowledge you acquire by yourself and cannot be trained for, unless if you are trained through apprentiship . This kind of knowledge you can only acquire when you pursue things which you are genuinely interested in .
This kind of knowledge is knowledge which you will have an easy time doing . By equipping or perfecting this knowledge you will be able to stand out among others and gain an hedge over any competition because you will have something which is a part of you and which others will struggle to coupe up with .
When you acquire this kind of knowledge and make it authentic to you, then been rich won't be a problem to you unless you decide otherwise.
2.ACCOUNTABILITY
By embracing accountability and taking business risks under your own name , you will be rewarded according to your responsibility , equity and leverage .
Most successful people have utilised this and have highly been rewarded for it .Examples of such people are; Oprah , Steve Jobs ,Elon Musk , Jeff Bezos and many more.
When you take risks with your own name and be of value to others , then wealth will be for you.
3.LEVERAGE
In order to acquire fortunes you need to have leverage . Leverage will come from capital , people and products with no marginal costs of replication which are code and media.
Capital means money and to be able to raise money you will apply your specific knowledge with accountability and be able to show resulting good judgement on your area of expertise.
Labor means people who will be working for you and it is the most common in our society today . In order to become rich it is better you don't chase labor leverage
Labor and capital are permissioned leverage which everyone is chasing but the truth is that someone has to give it to you and because everyone is trying to lead , but someone has to follow you.
Code and media are permissionless leverage which is the leverage behind the new rich . Nowadays you can create software and media that works for you while you sleep .If you are unable to code then write books and blogs , record videos and publish to this permissionless leverage sources.
Leverage is the best force multiplier for your judgement/ opinion . In order to be able to have a good judgement you need to have experience and build it fast by learning foundational skills which in today's world you are able to acquire easily .
